Final digipak

This is the final outcome of my digipak. I am quite pleased with this as I have kept the theme throughout however if I were to create this again I would have used a higher quality camera to get a better picture for my digipak. I havent changed much from the old draft apart from made all of the images the same size and added the spines. I also decided not to use the overlay, since speaking with my teacher, we decided that the images were a bit repetitive therefore now the coloured images look a lot clearer whilst they still fit in with the theme.

Evaluation Question 3 (What have you learned from your audience feedback)

I asked two people, who do media, to watch my final video and give me some feedback since they are aware of the conventions of music videos therefore they could give me feedback based on their knowledge. I asked the following questions:

  • Is it engaging?
  • Do you like it?
  • Do you like how I filmed it? (Techniques used)
  • Do you think theres a narrative? if so, what is it?
  • What would you change/improve?

They said that they liked the overlay of Maia to show that she is under the influence of alcohol and drugs etc. However they thought the camera quality let it down slightly which I completely agree with. If I were going to film this video again I would deffinatly have planned ahead and booked out one of the Canon 1200D which would have made the footage clearer and less blurred. I learned that both people had a different opinion of the narrative which was quite good really because I aimed for the audience to have their own perspective on the artsist journey/storyline.

Here is some written feedback that I got from my friends, that don't do media, for my music video. I wanted to get an opinion on a few people that don't have any media knowledge to see if they like it despite not knowing conventions because then I can see if it is succesfull or not. They all said that the camera quality could have been improved which I agree with because it looks slightly ammetur and unprofessional. One person said that they liked the locations which was really positive because I was unsure about having so many locations as many music videos only have three.

Overall I have learned a lot from my feedback to help me improve my products throughout the whole process since many of my ideas have changed completely due to becoming more aware of the audience's needs/wants etc. I have learned that it is important to get audience feedback because it really helps with the production and made my pieces a lot better. For the end products I learned that I could have used a better video camera to make the footage more sharp and less blurry. I also learned that I should have used a tripod more often to create smoother shots as some were a bit shakey. Despite a few things that I could have improved and changed I am quite happy with the outcome of my products and the audience feedback seems to say that my products were pretty succesfull.
